I wrote today on my own blog of "Semitic Cruel Deities", in Finnish, though - where I inspected the Semitic Polytheism, the cultural sphere where Judaism and later Christianity was born and what kind of bastards the Semitic deities, like Enlil, Ishtar, Baal, Marduk, Molech and their ilk were. They were nothing like Zeus, Odin or Ilmarinen. The Indo-European Polytheism is nothing short of sex and violence fantasies of a 12 year old boy; the Semitic polytheism is the sex and violence fantasies of a 40 year old grown up man whose emotional life and empathy is on the status of a 3 year old. The distinctive terms for Semitic Polytheism are intolerance, fanaticism, brutality and depravity.
The Islamic incredible fanaticism and intolerance is direct cultural continuum of the Assyrian fanaticism and intolerance for Marduk and Ishtar - nothing new.
Happy Easter to our host, and all my fellow readers who celebrate!
Ironmistress, what have you got against Ilmarinen? I had him down as just this guy, you know? A guy who liked to hit things with a hammer until they turned into other things. I.e., an engineer. I thought it kind of nice of the Finns to have a master smith with all his legs intact (Hephaestos, Wayland). Granted, my research began and ended with reading the Kalevala.
The Israelites have known for thousands of years that God is Three-in-One: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. They had been looking for the Son of God, the Messiah, to be a political Savior so did not recognize Him when He came the first time.
The other "gods" the mistress mentions in connection with the Israelites are actually demons that are referenced in the Bible.
Try reading the Bible and you'll understand. I have confidence that if you go to the source yourself, instead of relying on the tales told by idiots who merely talk among themselves, that your God-given intelligence will help to guide you to the Truth.
By the way, the Islamic religion, founded by one of the descendants of Abraham's first (bastard) child Ishmael, while having some (again the word) bastardized references to both Judaism and Christianity, worships a pagan moon-god and many other demons whose characteristics were rolled into one and commonly referred to as the Islamic Allah. Islam truly does have poly"theistic" (really polydemonic) roots.
Yes David, the joy of the risen Savior and the gift of eternal life through Him. It certainly wasn't a joyous experience for Him to obtain it for us, however. And if we are unable to share our thoughts, "peace" is meaningless anyway.

Thanks, I think I passover that.

Ironmistress, Very true. It's a good thing, therefore, that God hammered the truth into the Hebrews.

Pax, everyone. This is a day for sharing joy.
