A 1965 vision of how to revive passenger train service in the US through high-speed rail networks, which are a bit like opera; been around for a long time, but never catches on.
Like a windmill farm, this buzz-buggy would no doubt be covered in bloody little bird-bits in very short order.
In wintertime, with snow and ice on the rails, it would be worthy of a movie by Jim Abrahams and the Zucker brothers.
As the old saying goes in engineering, "If nobody else does it that way, there's usually a very good reason". (Think, the direct-gas system of the M-16 rifle, etc.)
