When Worlds Collide

Good movie, but I still hope that somebody will one day do an accurate adaptation of Wylie & Balmer's two novels. Granted, it would require a Lord of the Rings-sized budget just for the SFX work.

I have the Pegasus model kit of the Ark assembled, painted, and sitting on top of my old '95 IBM Aptiva about four feet to my right as I type this. Excellent model, even if it is all ABS plastic. (I used CA to assemble it.) Bu whenever I see the movie, that launch ramp still makes me nervous, in the "my slipstick tells me it's an accident waiting to happen" sense. The Arks (plural) in the books took off in the more sensible direct-vertical-thrust mode, of course. (AKA "Really Big Saturn V Method".)

cheers

Was it the first book or the sequel that had the alien city with still working technology?

eon and David...

According to IMDB, a remake/reimagining of WWC is due this year.

With CGI enhanced effects!

And yes... The planet shows signs of a previous civilization.

(in this version, crazy billionaire... Sir Richard Branson?)
