Gas of evil! |
Sure enough, the BBC declares shale gas to be evil in the sight of Blessed Gaia–worse than coal, in their words. It's so evil that it will SET YOUR SINK ON FIRE!
I expect scaremongering from the Beeb, but at least do it with some sort of subtlety.

In the good old days, flaming water was seen as a helpful sign - i.e. dig here for an easy to reach energy supply
Now? It appears to be a sign that the great water spirits are angry at mans meddling!
so much for the rise of science over superstition...
Yes, Daniel, we used to talk about the age of reason, but these "new" (actually very old, they're just making a comeback) religions that worship mother Gaia are seducing large numbers of people away from using their God-given intelligence - except as little as is required to follow their herds over the cliff of irrationality to the depths of insanity.
Er...
It does set your sink on fire...
At the very least, it releases natural gas into the groundwater. Enough methane to light when you turn on the faucet and hold a lighter close.
More studies ought to be done, but considering how the liquid used for the fracking process (Best name ever!) is toxic, and the groundwater has started to taste like trash in some places, you can understand why some of us are a little hesitant.
Right?
Wrong. No release. No sinks on fire. The EPA, even under The One, has admitted that fracking has produced ZERO contamination of ground water.
The worshipers of Blessed Gaia hate it because it works.
