The future just isn't what it used to be

I was willing to go along with this until the dreaded word "sustainable" appeared, then it veered a hard left and smacked into a sustainable brick wall.

Little change in the automobile? Just proves the internal combustion engine was pretty darned good when it was created, now it's been tweaked to the point that a car can go nearly 100K miles without major service, can accept all sorts of owner abuse, can survive all the government plumbing and still operate smoothly to take fatsos from their front door down to the mailbox on a daily basis.

Pretty good for a century plus old technology. Some people just can't leave well enough alone though.

The difference about the "future" today is that the same lefty know it alls that only exist to tell everyone what to do want to force us into their own idea of Utopia.
They want to make it happen rather than just let it happen.

The old magazines that predicted things showed us what could be, not; "if you don't do this we will all die!".

I'll take the old sneaks-up-on-you future rather than the socially engineered one any day of the week.

And instead of this documentary, I think I'll go watch "Gizmo" again.
