Avatar in Depth

This guy almost hates Avatar as much as I do.

Almost, but not quite.

Caution: Profanity.

The smoke ring blowing answering machine is the special effect of the decade!
Wait, that wasn't one of Cameron's?

This review is a lot more entertaining than "Revenge of the Cat People Against the Evil Corporatists" will be.

The crewcut baddie looks like Mike Holmes (HGTV's Canadian builder), I'd expect him to go in and fix the leaks under that big tree house.

Is there a movie out there where the bad guys are all lovey looking plushies and the good guys are squinty eyed scaly dudes and everyone gets conned?
I mean besides in Washington.

Cameron as a director still gets a pass from me for Aliens and True Lies. He can direct a chase scene better than anyone in Hollywood (also for the accurate portrayal of terrorists, what was he thinking?).

In fact the horse and motorcycle scene in True Lies is still exciting despite seeing it 6000 times as AMC channel shows it about every stinking night.
It's either watch that or Mike Holmes.

"Small Soldiers" tried to invert the 'Marines vs Monsters' cliche'.

Hmmm.....
BOTH had crewcut baddies!

The mention of Small Soldiers made me think of another one, there's a movie called "Dollman vs the Demonic Toys" (yes I will indeed watch anything) that features a character that is buzzcut and in camos and is very definitely a bad guy.
It seems that stereotype is pretty well entrenched, I hope it doesn't come from Jeff Chandler's portrayal of Gen. Merrill back in 1962
