The Call of Cthulhu

Somebody finally did an H. P. Lovecraft film right.

The Call of Cthulhu has been out for a while, but the trailer convinced me to part with some hard-earned gelt.

And if the cinema isn't your cup of ichor, there are other media.

I absolutely second your opinion of this fine piece of cinema!

Not sure if it was that clip, but I watched several of the related YouTubes, even the parody ones, and promptly had nightmares.

'Scary, Scary Solstice' for example.

Is Cthulhu physical or non-physical?

A non-human creature, even with horrorific mental powers, doesn't really deserve the 'God' label in my opinion. It's just some kind of Alien. (Can Aliens be from Earth?)

By the way...
Is that the creature seen near the end of the first 'HellBoy' movie?

This movie of "Call of Cthulhu" is a gem! Doing it as if it was a 1920s silent movie works brilliantly (IMHO) because:

a) It makes a virtue out of the limitations of amateur movie making.

b) The style of the film fits the style of the original story.

The extras on the DVD are fun as well.

"jayessell" I've always thought that Cthulhu is described as a 'god' because human beings don't have the right word to describe him in our vocabulary, cannot comprehend the right words to describe him. 'God' is just the closest word we have.

I *really* owe you one for bringing this to my attention! An Old One, that is... ;)
