What is the course for Somalia? That depends on
who you talk to.
In an interview with The Times Sheikh Ahmed (the man behind the imposition of sharia courts on Mogadishu) insists the courts have no interest in turning Somalia into an Islamic state or governing like the Taleban in Afghanistan. He claims to have no agenda beyond keeping the warlords from the city.
However, the same article quotes Sheikh Mohamed Siad, the governor of Lower Shabelle, who commands a fleet of "
technicals."
We are Muslims and we must work at implementing Koranic law. Democracy will never work.
Somehow I'm more inclined to believe the sincerity of the man with the guns.
