A slap in the face

And there won't be any of those nasty prayers either.
Going to the 9/11 memorial service in New York?  If you're a clergyman or a first responder like the ones who died that day, don't bother.  You're not welcome.

I always said, show me a man who cares more about salt than bed bugs and I'll show you a bounder.

Bloomberg is the perfect liberal. The sort who is "where he should be all the time", to quote Carly Simon.

To him, an event like this is a place for "networking", and also to remind everybody else exactly Who Is In Charge. It certainly isn't for anything like remembering those who were lost by being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Or those who gave their lives trying to save them.

Also, he doesn't want anyone thinking of exactly how this "man-caused disaster" (to quote another notably feckless "Fearless Leader") happened. That might lead to people calling for, oh I don't know, those responsible being called to account- and told, "either change your culture to a less lethal one, Or Else."

If Bloomberg had been in charge of the dedication of the U.S.S. Arizona Memorial, you can be sure he would not have had anyone in uniform there. And he would have given a rambling speech that never got around to mentioning exactly why the Arizona, and her dead, lie in Pearl Harbor to this day.

This man is not merely ridiculous. He is pathetic. Worse, he is an arrogant jerk.

cheers (but not to him)
