German Chancellor Merkel caves into anti-progress forces and says that Germany is abandoning nuclear power in favour of "renewables".
Well, there were people after the last war who wanted to make sure it couldn't happen again by deindustrialising Germany and turning it into a agrarian state. It looks like they've finally got their wish.
Well, that makes sense. Since Germany straddles several active fault lines, and its natives have a well deserved reputation for not knowing which end of a hammer to use for bashing bolts into wood.
Maybe this is just German Humor at work. Like how they've been pretending to enjoy Wagner for the past hundred-plus years. One of these days they'll all come out and say, "Ja, it vass all ein Yoke! Ha! Ha!", and then get on with their lives.
Don't know about Mr. Morgenthau, but as I see it, these Germans are in general, not those Germans. It makes no sense to hate an entire nation. Individuals are different, and deserve whatever opinion they deserve. I might remember Cyrus well or Longshanks badly, but this has little to do with my views of Persians or Englishmen collectively. When certain attitudes survived, with clear links to that generation in Germany, that's different of course. I don't know enough about Mr. Morgenthau to guess what his opinion might have been.

Henry Morgenthau must be doing Hava Nagila in his grave.
