Hard Choices Now or Impossible Choices Tomorrow

A rundown of the last few days:
  • The IAEA, the nuclear inspection agency with a learning curve as flat as Kansas, declared on Thursday that Iran is "cooperating" to "resolve outstanding issues."
  • Today, Iran demonstrated that its idea of "cooperation" is to bring another 3000 centrifuges on line.
  • Meanwhile, the Pentagon shows more realism and draws up plans for a three-day blitz that will take out Iran's entire military infrastructure in case the Mullah's get too close to lighting the blue touch-paper.
Every day I feel more like I'm living through a repeat of the late '30s with the IAEA playing the part of the umbrella. The words "Rhineland 1936" in two-foot letters should be tacked up on the wall of every Western leader.

you really need to get a grip. Iran with a couple small nukes isn't going to be any worse that Pakistan with a few small nukes has been. FAR WORSE would be the vast numbers of dead civilians Iran would suffer from ANY massive attack on our part. Stop freaking out and relax already... the only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

oh and BTW that's assuming Iran even chose to build a nuclear WEAPON, we've seen no evidence of this, other than that it's what we would do if we were them. We aren't. All inidcations are they intend to switch their electric generation to all nuclear ASAP, which is a smart move, that way they can sell nearly all their petroleum.

Thank you, Neville Chamberlain.

And I'm sure Hitler conquering a "couple more countries" and a few "million or so dead Jews" would have been a preferable course of action by our forebears?

Question. Does Mahmoud need to wear a goddamn t-shirt with the message "I'm going to slaughter you, Infidel" emblazoned on it before the message finally sinks in to that tattered pipe cleaner you call a brainstem?

When your done fretting over what the "evil capitalist West" might do to further lower their disposition to a cabal of mass murdering sociopaths--or adjusting that tinfoil hat of yours--you can be welcomed by the warm embrace of rationale.

Until then, please acknowledge an Oxford's dictionary, elementary grammar and refrain from the caps lock button.

Many thanks.

"Mahmoud" doesn't control the military in Iran in any way. Many of his most seemingly-inflammatory speeches verifiably have been presented in 'mis-translation.' What's more, he's never said anything like what you're representing. and even if he did, he's little more than a figure head, who's term of office will soon be up.

Are you so oxygen deprived atop your pedestal that you think Iran would ever use a nuke for aggression? That, we would all agree, would invite retaliation, which they could never survive. Any small country with nukes has them as one thing and one thing only - a deterrent.

also, Neville Chamberlain knew full well he was doing the one thing he could do... buy time for Brittan to rebuild it's war machine.
