Mr. Brown has been advised that he shouldn't let this sort of thing go to their head, otherwise the proles and Outer Party members will start thinking that things like patriotism and liberty are their birthright rather than a sufference from the Party.

Please don`t compare british goverment with communists. There is plenty enough communist patriotism which is similar to the american patriotism, still far away from the british (if there is any today). It doesn`t mean that the labour goverment is communist if they gave russians the Nene jet engine, instead it could mean they are idiots (or apolitical, as some would say).
