Nuclear Paradox

One of Saddam's nuclear scientists claims that the Israeli attack on the Osirak reactor caused Iraq to pursue a nuclear weapon. In other words, Saddam's wanting the bomb was all the fault of those damn Jews. As if they aren't offensive enough by existing, they have the temerity to defend themselves.

First off, this is assertion is twaddle, because the Osirak reactor was a bomb programme and Saddam never made a secret about his nuclear ambitions. Second, it's like a mugger blaming the police for his trying to get a second gun because the police took the first away from him. And third, I thought, according to the Left, that Saddam never had a nuclear programme in the fist place.
