Glittering Future

The recent perfection of techniques for manufacturing manmade diamonds is paying an unexpected dividend, since it turns out that semiconducter chips made out of diamond leave those made out of silicon nowhere-- by a factor of 20.

But that doesn't mean diamond mines are closing any time soon. In fact, DeBeers has started using Zeppelins to find new motherlodes.
