The political tin ear

When cynicism meets clulessness.
What amazes me is that the editors of Time or Mr Barack Hussein Obaman's staff imagines that anyone will buy this for even the life span of a slice of pepperoni in a room full of dachshunds.

I'm sure Time would much rather have shown The One "hearting" his true guru, Jimmy Carter. But even Time's editorial staff isn't stupid enough to think that the American people would see that as a good thing.

The One would, I'm sure, like to be as popular as Reagan. I'm sure he also believes that acting "Reaganesque" will get him there. The fact that it was Reagan's policies as much as his personality that made him popular (and got him elected President in two landslides) is totally lost on The One.

The moral being, form and substance are two different things, and only a fool confuses the two. (What this says about The One I leave as an exercise for the reader.)

Next Time will tell us that like Raegan, Obama is opposed to socialized medicine. Is anyone still buying Time magazine? As the great P.T. Barnum said, "You can fool some of the people all of the time...", even into thinking that Abraham Lincoln originated the saying.

Well, that old glossy birdcage-liner owes me a new keyboard. Or would, if I were drinking coffee. Vodka, I think will evaporate cleanly without harming the electronics.

You know, I've got a huge load of code and tools to assimilate today, but this has been bothering me all morning. What were they even trying to do? Convince me that Hussein Husseinovich is the new Reagan? Um... I don't think so. Say to their regular audience that Husseinovich is good like Reagan? Every time I heard the name Reagan mentioned among that crowd, the sentence had a sneer at the end instead of a period. Somehow mitigate an anticipated failure of epic proportions by saying, "Reagan did it too"? As pointed out, more like Carter's second term than Reagan's third.

I can come up with two ways for this to be a part of reality that actually exists. The first is if it's something from the Onion that someone mistook for the real thing. The second is that a bored intern at Time spent ten minutes playing with Photoshop, and so many of the editors have been laid off that the picture made it all the way to the cover without anyone noticing.

I do not comprehend.
