Mae fy hofrenfad yn llawn llyswennod

In one of the more pointless crusades of our times, the Royal Society warns (warns?) that unless 860 people a year learn Gaelic, the language will become extinct, which will put government-mandated bilingual signs that no one can read years behind schedule.

Speaking as one who is half Welsh, it rather reminds me of that old joke about why BBC Wales has the lowest ratings in Britain.  It's because everyone who speaks Welsh is on BBC Wales.

We have exactly the same problem in Finland with Swedish.

And yup, my family is half Swedish-speaking :-)

Why are they concerned? Is Gaelic that close to Arabic that it is worthy of saving? Otherwise they should herald the death of the infidel tongue so that the infidel's tongues needn't be cut out.

What?
No mention of the supposed aftereffects of Welsh Rarebit?
You should post the video
"Dream of a Rarebit Fiend"
from Archive.org.
