Once you subtract the "vegans" who eat eggs or milk products, you end up with the really hard-core types who are determined to save every animal on Earth from evil humans. The humans, they would just as soon dispense with.
Fortunately, most of them are into the whole "ZPG" or "voluntary human extinction" thing, too. Meaning, they either don't breed, or at most have one kid per pair. If not for their penchant for recruiting the gullible and/or fanatical (usually in college) they would have gone extinct long ago. (One more reason for higher-education reform, IMHO.)
