The men arrested and subsequently released in the Forest Gate chemical bomb raid are considering suing the Metropolitan police.
This is one of those stories that is are predictable as it is wearisome. It may well be that the police did make a mistake and that the men in question are innocent. We are talking about the Met, after all. On the other hand, it may be that it is impossible to level charges against the suspects in open court without compromising intelligence sources. That is the reason why a sane government makes a sharp distinction between criminal cases, which go to civilian courts, and terrorist cases, which go to military tribunals.
