Stealing a Model T

Ever since the lads on Top Gear had a look at the controls layouts of the first cars I've had a fascination with that gloriously complicated bit of machinery, the Model T. Not only was it one of the most successful cars in history, but it was so mind-bogglingly complicated to start that it's a wonder that anyone ever managed to steal one.

In case you ever wish to, here's how.

T's were marvels of engineering, even if a bit crude. That planetary transmission was just a few evolutionary steps away from being an true automatic, something that would take GM and Packard another 30 years or so to get to market.
My great-uncle Meredith had one with a removable rear body that he regularly replaced with a pickup bed. It used to get him in trouble with the Indiana constabulary because of the licensing laws of a car vs a truck.
The more things change...
