Boy, I'm sure overjoyed that Europe went through the fire and brimstone hell that was WWII in order to break the yolk of fascistic despotism--only to shirk away freedom to appease an eight century civilization...Excuse me, I have some veterans to apoligize to...

I would think that politicians would move against a decision so egregious and marinated in judicial advocatism, that it moves their constituencies in a collective dry heave. But what emphatically pains me as a human and a libertarian, is the fact that rebuke this while maintaining the institution of multiculturalism--political doublespeak for “people should keep to their own kind”. The sheer fact that a judge even *thought* to come to this decision in the first place, is telling of a systematic pan-European belief in the incompatibility with certain cultures and religions with liberty and democracy. A notion that is patently racist, and patently false.
It’s not enough that Germans protect civil liberties for themselves, but they should encourage that movement within all the people within its borders, not just the native born.
Liberty is sacrosanct; dedicated to all people at their birth. European policymakers should encourage the integration of immigrants, treat them to the same privileges and hold them to the same responsibilities under the law.
Then again, what with the fawning treatment a human wasteland like Arafat received from European leaders, this could be a long way off.
I don't know much about German law, but I certainly hope that this woman will be able to appeal that judge's ridiculous ruling and get it overturned quickly.

This kind of radical multiculturalism is one of those things that sound good when you talk about them, but fall apart if you actually try to implement them. Some of us see this without trying the experiment, some of them need to have their noses rubbed in it.
Any idea can be screwed up - especially by governments. Multiculturism is no exception. Is the concept inherently flawed? Personally, I don't think so, but it has to be clearly defined and administered with backbone. Throwing out basic values in order to not offend some tradition, THAT is inherently flawed.
People do not have to be told to leave all of their traditions at the door, as long as they know they're "not in Kansas anymore"... unless they're in Kansas, of course.
Absolutely true. I would still advocate that Europe take a long, hard look inward, and realize where its flawed policies are taking them.
Continuing down a pathway like this only leads to the mouth of hell.
