Of course it's snobbery. Just like the anti-Wal-Mart prejudice is snobbery. You don't see people making documentaries accusing Wolfgang Puck of making food that's too fattening, or Bloomingdale's of encouraging people to buy too much stuff.
Criticizing Wal-Mart and McDonald's is just a way to be a snob _and_ feel smug and self-righteous.
