Now We Wait

The Democrats have won the American House of Representatives and may control the Senate as well.

American domestic politics aren't of that much interest to me, but this change in party control in the United States has a potentially huge impact on the war that could go one of three four ways:
  1. The democrats stick to their anti-war rhetoric and hand the Jihadists a victory by forcing an American surrender in Iraq.
  2. They indulge in a two-year orgy of political revenge that will see the war effort vanish in a flurry of indictments and investigations that will benefit no one except our enemies.
  3. They try either of the above, but discover their their slim majority results in nothing but gridlock and the war effort grinds to a halt.
  4. They sober up now that they have power and realise that there is a real war on with a real enemy that must be defeated.
I'm hoping for four, but I'm dreading one, two and three.
