Another Nail

The Red Arrows get their first female pilot, even though there are only TEN female fighter pilots in the entire RAF. But don't say that this is due to any orders from on high to put sex before competence. Not if you know what's good for you.

After all, it's not as if New Labour has its priorities skewed.

...Because females, of course, are naturally less competent fighter pilots than men?

Granted, the odds do seem hella slim that she'd make it into the shortlist. But we don't know anything about the level of skill of this particular pilot, and I do generally get the feeling that your take on it (reinforced by the post's title) is along the lines of "They're letting women do WHAT now?"

An aerobatic team is realistically less important than the armed fighters that defend the Dover cliffs. If she is incompetent, this should be a positive change.
