Crewedly Crews

Astrium have unveiled their idea for a "crewed" spacecraft based on the Jules Verne class cargo carrier.

We have a similar type of craft in the Anglophone world, only we follow proper grammar and call them "manned".

Update: I particularly like the way they refer to "non-human items".

Translation: Cargo.

I suppose even calling it "personed" would offend the ship's hamster.
When I read "Jules Verne" class I automatically made a mental image of the ship being walled in dark red crushed velvet, rich wood paneling, and victorian brass accents.
Instead it looks like a set from Blake's Seven

When I read "Jules Verne class" I thought they were going to launch the damn thing out of a huge friggin' gun! Go figure.

And niel russell, how could you be so insensitive as to suggest "personed" when the very word contains the dreaded male-hygymonic letters-o-evil s-o-n? You should have written "pyrpyppled". Not that it will do you much good, as the Thought Police are due to stop by your place in... oh, about now.

Sergej: Darn my insensitivity. I'll get cut on my rations by the Ministry of Plenty for sure now. "Pyrpyppled" sounds like the way Al Capp had the citizens of Lower Slobovia say people, so maybe you are on to something...oops, there's the door, now who could that be?
