im doin an animal care course and have to write about fox hunting i was looking through some pictures to see wat its about and u know what this is a piss take and its sickening killing foxes is crule enough with out people taking the piss outta it and taking pictures and being proud of what they have done what the foxes and the dogs go through is completely uncalled for. the welfare of the animals are not considered and foxes may be a pain to farmers but they are animals trying to survive like other wild animals and they have feelings.

The picture being protested aside-

Like foxes, we are predators. Our eyes face forward, rather than to the side like most prey. Like the fox - and the eagle, and the lion, and the bear - we take pleasure in following what we are, and feel (or ought to feel) no shame in doing so. And we are far more merciful to the fox than the fox is to the rabbit. Have you watched a kill? Have you heard the rabbit scream?

The fox is destined to die, by my agency or not. When I participate in the natural order, being a predator, I am in closer relationship to the fox than any suburban or urban dissenter. To hunt the fox is to enter that relationship, and one might say the death of the fox gains dignity, rather than loses it, because I cherish this natural order and the prey I seek.

Sentimentality pretending to be one with nature is neither true empathy, nor is it in harmony with the world around us (except, perhaps, the synthetic world of the city, the world of ideas and idealism only). It is usually displayed in people who have little if any contact with nature aside from a hiking trip or viewing National Geographic specials.

Or as someone has said, opinions are like arses - everyone has one. They are particularly easy to hold, even if pitiably uninformed, if one need not actually pay a price for holding them.
