Your feeble skills are no match for the dark side

Tony Blair prepares for his role as the first EU President.

The Czech Republic has surrendered, bent its knee, and ratified the EU Constitution Lisbon Treaty; bringing the European Empire officially into existence.

Meanwhile, in a move that is no surprise to anyone, the Tories have once again proven that they are New Labour Lite by reneging on their promise to hold a referendum on the treaty, saying that,
These things will already have happened and a referendum cannot unwind them or prevent them.
Prevent? Perhaps not, Mr Hague, but this isn't about prevention. It's about liberty. A referendum would empower the British government to tell Brussels to stuff their "treaty" and every single thing it implies because freeborn Englishmen didn't sign up for a free trade zone only to become vassals to a Continental empire that will almost certainly rot away within a decade anyway. Mr Cameron could do that on the phone while Parliament spends a quick half hour repealing the European Communities Act 1972.

See? How hard was that?
