I've always worshiped the aircraft designed before 1955, as if the designers back then possessed some mysterious "wisdom" that faded away later. Despite that their performance would be modest by today's standards, older planes always seemed to be more smartly built, offering more for a smaller price, and being beautiful for the eye (although this is irrelevant).
