Grassoline

Al Fin looks at a new process for converting biomass cellulose into petrol (gasoline to you colonials).

Unfortunately, this conversion of grass to gas doesn't involve forcing the peasants people to wear hair shirts or submit to social engineering, so don't expect the environmentalists to fall all over themselves to back this.

Brilliant idea. I also read something about a method of extracting CO2 from the air and using it as a power-generator or fuel recently, in New Scientist.

See? Whilst all the hippies turn into mad luddites, and mostly everyone else stops listening, the scientists quietly work on solutions. Awesome.

(No word on that cure for cancer, though)
