Progress is a Mixed Blessing: Exhibit A

This is why I never park in town if I can avoid it. The city of Hoboken, New Jersey boasts a robot carpark that can tuck your motor away automatically and then retrieve it in thirty seconds. Unfortunately, the city got into a contract dispute with the company that owns the software that runs the thing and hundreds of cars ended up being trapped inside the perfectly sound, yet utterly useless machine.

Not unlike various bureaucracies I could mention.
