Oolon Colluphid, call your service

Stephen Hawking declares that God did not create the Universe. His reason?
Because there is a law such as gravity, the universe can and will create itself from nothing.
Depends on how you define "nothing". Given that, by definition, God is also the author of the space/time continuum and everything else that isn't Himself, which means that the law of gravity is also a created thing requiring a primary cause and hence cannot create anything ex nihilo, I suspect that Mr Hawking is leaving out a step or two from his argument.

By the way, according to Mr Hawking, not only is God dead, but so is philosophy.
