Invade and destroy

From the BBC:
The EU should "do its best to undermine" the "homogeneity" of its member states, the UN's special representative for migration has said.
Translation: The UN's special representative for migration urges the EU to declare war against its member states.

It's time to invest heavily in tar and feathers.

UNESCOSat

The UN, with its usual brilliance, plan to launch a satellite into orbit that runs on poo.

I intend to keep a tracking application running on my computer at all times and a large bottle of Detol close to hand.

What the UN really thinks of you

Latest diktat from the UN, where the delegates tuck into the caviare like it's going out of style: Eat bugs, peasants.

Be prepared

The Dirty Bomb Emergency Kit.

With Mr Brown willing to give away one fourth of Britain's nuclear deterrent force and The United States' College Administrator in Chief, abandoning the European leg of the missile defence system for no good reason, delighted over the prospect of crippling "his" nuclear deterrent, and beaming with self admiration because he can't tell the difference between gaining respect and being recognised for a Charlie by that dictator's guild called the United Nations, this might well be the hot (pardon the pun) item under the tree this Christmas.

Update:
Tyrant envy.

Update: But... But, I thought they loved the US now!

United Gall

The UN Human Rights Council has called on Britain to abolish the monarchy.

There is a concise reply to this, but EI is a family column.

Par For The Course

A UN-African Union peacekeeper base in Darfur was overrun by "rebel forces", who grabbed every weapon and vehicle they could carry off and burned what they couldn't. At the end of the day the AU was down ten dead, seven severely injured and fifty missing-- which means that they ran like the clappers the moment the shooting started.

If it wasn't so horrifying it would be comic.

Uranium? What Uranium?

International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors
discuss the Libyan uranium problem.

Less than a month after French President Sarkosy said that Colonel Gaddafi could be trusted with nuclear reactors, we discover that Libya has still to surrender 200 barrels of uranium as per its 2003 agreement to abandon its nuclear weapons programme in return for the West lifting sanctions.

Of absolutely no surprise to anyone, the handover of uranium was the responsibility of the IAEA, who never met an illicit nuclear weapons programme in the hands of a would-be Bond villain that it couldn't completely fail to do anything about.

UN Slides Into Irrelevance

Sweet spirits of nitre, you can't make this stuff up! The UN has shown that is is utterly useless with this interesting little development (emphasis added):
On April 9, 2007 there was a United Nations believe-it-or-not moment extraordinaire. At the same time that Iran’s President Ahmadinejad declared his country was now capable of industrial-scale uranium enrichment, the U.N. reelected Iran as a vice chairman of the U.N. Disarmament Commission.
Next up, Tony Soprano is put in charge of stamping out the Mafia.

Pleae, Sir, May I Have Another?

Mark Steyn on the Iranian crisis"

So we live today in a world of one-way sovereignty: American, British and Iraqi forces in Iraq respect the Syrian and Iranian borders; the Syrians and Iranians do not respect the Iraqi border. Patrolling the Shatt al-Arab at a time of war, the Royal Navy operates under rules of engagement designed by distant fainthearts with an eye to the polite fictions of "international law": If you're in a ''warship,'' you can't wage war. If you're in a ''destroyer,'' don't destroy anything. If you're in a "frigate," you're frigging done for.

On Sept. 11, a New York skyscraper was brought down by the Egyptian leader of a German cell of an Afghan terror group led by a Saudi. Islamism is only the first of many globalized ideological viruses that will seep undetected across national frontiers in the years ahead. Meanwhile, we put our faith in meetings of foreign ministers.

"It is better to be making the news than taking it," wrote Winston Churchill in 1898. But his successors have gotten used to taking it, and the men who make the news well understand that.

As the kids say, read the whole thing

Turtle Bay Farce

The UN has issued a statement of "grave concern" over Iran's kidnapping of 15 Royal Navy sailors and marines. The British government is disappointed because it wanted the UN to "deplore" the kidnapping.

The only thing to deplore here is the gaping hole where Britain's spine used to be. It would be laughable if it weren't so tragic.

Not Getting It

Mohammed ElBaradei of the United Nations' (toothless) nuclear watchdog group has said that if Britain replaces Trident with a new nuclear weapons system it will have no right to tell the likes of Iran that they cannot have similar weapons.

I would humbly suggest that Mr. ElBaradei ponder the fact that it is entirely appropriate for a policeman to have a gun while insisting that the criminals be disarmed.

Well, I Feel Safe

The Association of Space Explorers is working on a draught treaty that would empower the UN to decide how to defend the Earth against enounters with killer asteroids.

If any hitchhikers are heading for Barnard's Star, I'd like to tag along, please.

Bolton Resigns

John Bolton has resigned as the US temporary envoy to the United Nations.

So ends the one voice of sanity in the mad house.
