Ministry of Pee

The Swedish Left Party wants abolish men's lavatories.  Sorry, I mean require that offices have only "unisex" toilets without urinals.

In other words, they want to abolish men's lavatories.

To add insult to injuries, they also want to require men to pee sitting down.

If this piece of idiotic tyranny isn't met with howls of derisive laughter before being torn up and the scraps literally thrown in the authors' faces, then we have reached a very dark crossroads.

What's worse than being attacked by an eagle?

Being attacked by an eagle with a knife!

Architects transform submarine into a bar

Two hundred and fifty years ago, brewer Arthur Guinness signed a 9,000-year lease for his St. James's Gate Brewery in Dublin, Ireland. To commemorate this event, the Guinness company could have rolled out a stretch limousine, but it decided to go one better by launching a “deep-sea bar” in the chilly waters of the Baltic off Stockholm, Sweden. Designed by London-based Jump Studios, the modified tourist submarine was commissioned as part of the Guinness Sea Experience competition, that included an underwater trip inside the Guinness sub as a prize... Wi nøt trei a høliday in Sweden this yer?

Bjorn, this is an intervention.
If you think you've got problems, spare a moment for poor Sweden, which is suffering from drunken elks staggering around people's gardens at two o'clock in the morning, singing rugby songs and getting stuck in apple trees.

Probably an Arsenal supporter.

Swedish preschool gets those childhood traumas in early

Western Civ circles the drain.
And now a bit of Scandanavian madness: Egalia; a preschool where any references to gender are banned down to and including personal pronouns.

Stand by for the follow up story fifteen years from now about the most confused and screwed up group of people outside of a furries cosplay group.

Swede power

In a burst of actually taking energy policy seriously, Sweden embraces nuclear power. The legislation only allows Sweden's ten reactors to be replaced and no more to be built, but I don't see anything in the report to indicate that there's any limit in the type or size of the reactors, so Sweden could well be hitting the 80 percent mark on nuclear generating capacity in twenty years.

Socialism leaves a nasty hangover, but that does cause some focus to reappear.

Malmo: Judenrien

It's been said that the Jews are the canaries in the coal mine of Europe, in which case it's time to start running for the exits. If anyone had told me thirty years ago that Jews would be fleeing from Malmo in fear of their lives, I'd have told him to stop smoking the cheap stuff they sell down the docks.

Sweden becomes a dangerous place for Jews thanks to open collaboration between Jihadists and Leftists, Norwegian women are urged to wear hijabs "for their own protection", gangs of "youths" turn car burning into a French pastime, self-censorship is the order of the day across the Continent, and a member of the Dutch parliament is on trial for what amounts to violating Sharia. And in the middle of all this, the common message of government and media is, "Move along; nothing to see here." I've been saying for years that the longer we leave the problem of Jihadism in Europe and keep pretending that multiculturalism and unrestricted immigration will do nothing but provide exciting cuisine, then bad choices will only give way to intolerable choices, and then having impossible choices thrust upon us. After that, the only choice left will be stand or run–and that applies to moderate Muslims who wish to remain free as well as Infidels.

Welcome to the road to civil war.

Bunny power

Sweden provides worshipers of Blessed Gaia Environmentalists with a dilemma: Now that the Swedes are burning cute little bunnies to generate electricity, how do you find Vegan power outlets?

Now all we need are Internet servers that run on kittens and they'll be reduced to dusting off old mimeograph machines.

Why not?

Following the precedent set by the Nobel Prize committee, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have unanimously decided that the 2012 Oscar for Best Picture goes to Green Lantern, which hasn't begun filming.

In other news, Mr Barack Hussein Obama is asking impatiently why his face isn't on Mount Rushmore yet.

War is Peace, Freedom is...

Mr Barack Hussein Obama has won, wait for it, the Nobel Peace Prize.

Let that sink in for a moment like the tea I spilled in my lap. I can only assume this means the Nobel Committee will be giving Peace Prizes away in breakfast cereal packets next.

The astonishing thing is that not only has The One been given the prize despite the inconvenient fact that he's achieved absolutely nothing during his brief term in office, but that by gratuitously insulting and shafting America's allies, gutting Western defences, apologising for his country's existence, embracing dictators, literally bowing to tyrants, treating human rights as a "distraction", green lighting a Third World nuclear arms race, and dithering on the Afghanistan campaign while indulging in a Macarthuresque feud with his own hand-picked military commander, I can only assume that "Peace" is being used in the Orwellian sense.

Of course, I may be unfair in this view. After all, the nomination deadline for the prize was February first, which was a mere eleven days after Mr Obama took office. So maybe the new criteria for the prize is excellent penmanship while signing his W2 form.

Update: Quote of the day from Mataconis:
How can Obama win the Nobel Peace Prize on the same day that he’s becoming the first POTUS to bomb the Moon?
Update: Biggest laugh line of the day:
Nobel prize win 'humbles' Obama

Stand By To Spray Boarders

Another answer to the Somali pirate problem comes from the lads at Unifire and Raytheon, who have come up with a high-powered water jet capable of taking out a small boat at a hundred yards. Opt for the pepper spray attachment and you can make their eyes water at 200 yards. And just to make it truly annoying, it comes with a small-craft tracking radar.

Wish I had one of these when I was cruising around the Hawaiian Islands. Would have made intership water fights much more interesting.

Attack of the Robots

A Swedish court fines a company 25,000 kroners after one of their workers was attacked by a robot.

The name of the victim is not given, but is believed to be something like "J. Connor".

The Pionen

A Swedish Cold War nuclear bunker converted into an ultra-modern data centre.

Now if it just had a nuclear reactor, a pool of piranhas, an obvious self-destruct button, and a dress code that required black turtle necks, it would be perfect.

The Beginning of the End

Volvo wants to make their cars mimic the behaviour of locusts.

Great. One minute I'm shopping for a car and the next I'm trapped in an automotive remake of a Bert I. Gordon film.

Blaming the Victim

Lars Vilks, the cartoonist at the centre of the Swedish Cartoon War, is interviewed by Paula Newton of CNN, who interjects this observation (emphasis added):
Still one could argue Vilks should have known better because of what happened in Denmark in 2005, when a cartoonist's depictions of the prophet sparked violent protests in the Muslim world and prompted death threats against that cartoonist's life.
Translation: How dare Mr. Vilks refuse to act the good dhimmi and draw the wrath of the Faithful upon his head. Remember what happened to the Danes!

It's as one with Sheik Taj Din al-Hilali's claim that Australian women who refuse to wear the hijab are "abandoned meat" and therefore deserve to be raped. I expect that sort of bile from a raving Jihadist, but from a respected Western news agency it is nothing less than counseling cowardice in a time of war.

Shooting One's Foot

Al Qaeda has not only moved the Swedish Cartoon War from a question of "sensitivity" to deadly serious by putting a price on the head of the cartoonist and his editor, but they've also responded to their waning support in Iraq by declaring war on the very Sunnis they claim to champion.

Yup. All the foresight of Julius Caesar on the Ides of March.
