"World's first battery-powered rocket" readied for launch

Though there have been tremendous advances in space technology in recent years, when it comes to getting into space, we're still like cavemen trying to get beyond the breakers on a floating log – at least, that's the view of New Zealand-based company Rocket Lab. This isn't a battery-powered rocket. It's powered by RP-1 and liquid oxygen like a lot of other rockets. I don't see how using batteries to run the electronics is especially revolutionary.

The fact that they're pitching this as some kind of new technology makes me very dubious about the whole scheme.
