Let's not be beastly to Barry

The Ministry of Truth Mainstream Media have had a pretty rough time lately.  Mr Barack Hussein Obama is unable to run on His dismal domestic record, Obamacare faces overthrow by the Supreme Court, His "smart" diplomacy reaped little except derision, His "shiny object" attacks backfired in spectacular fashion, Romeny refuses to repeat McCain's conceding gracefully instead of fighting and the Wisconsin recall ended in a defeat so bad that His supporters are in denial.

With all of that facing the MSM's Messiah, they have come up with a new strategy:  Howling "Stop being mean to The One!" at their top of their voices with appropriate foot stamping.

Next stop: the MSM catching a dose of reality by discovering that their choice is to turn on Mr Soetoro or go down with him.

The US presidential election just got interesting.

Julia

Mr Barack Hussein Obama launches another re-election campaign strategy that revolves around a fictional woman named "Julia", whose life is absolutely tickety-boo because the government hands her everything on a platter.

Mr Soetoro's new campaign slogan?  How about, "Line up for your shackles here"?

Not surprised

Having decided that his job is too tough, President Barack Hussein Obama quits and hits the road and a snag when his "not really a re-election campaign" campaign bus was burgled and his Teleprompter stolen.

Mr Obama was left speechless.

Update:  Maybe they should look here for the culprits.

Update:  While we're on the topic of those archetypes of civic virtue, Mr Soetoro, maybe before you endorse them, you should see who else is on their side.  I guess our Barry is a uniter after all.

And who are they when the MSM isn't sanitising their image?
Our research shows clearly that the movement doesn’t represent unemployed America and is not ideologically diverse. Rather, it comprises an unrepresentative segment of the electorate that believes in radical redistribution of wealth, civil disobedience and, in some instances, violence. Half (52%) have participated in a political movement before, virtually all (98%) say they would support civil disobedience to achieve their goals, and nearly one-third (31%) would support violence to advance their agenda.
And, of course, there are gems like this. And this. Not quite the Tea Party.

This is what the Political Class has sunk to supporting.  Is Mr Dunham so desperate and out of touch that he truly believes that he can march to re-election by running out ahead of a load of Marxist hippies and pretending that he's their leader?  While being the biggest recipient of Wall Street donations?  That his backers won't notice?

We are deep into Downfall video territory here.  I give it a month before the first one hits Youtube.

Update It looks like his support isn't appreciated.

Update: Gah!  They got the wretched things back!

Ambiguity at the Gray Lady

From the New York Times:
Democrats are expressing growing alarm about President Obama’s re-election prospects and, in interviews, are openly acknowledging anxiety about the White House’s ability to strengthen the president’s standing over the next 14 months.
Given Barry's record and what it did for them in 2010, I'm beginning to wonder if they're worried that he won't be re-elected or that he will.

AV rejected

RESULT!

The AV referendum that the Liberal Democrats insisted on as their price for joining the coalition has been overwhelmingly rejected.  This means that Britain can still elect governments that are, at least theoretically, accountable to the people rather than an unending stream of backroom deals.  As a bonus, Mr Nicholas Clegg comes off looking like a right nana and is convinced that nobody likes him.
On the down side, the SNP hold a majority in the Scottish parliament for the first time, which means that the United Kingdom is now that much closer to dissolution--a threat that was regarded as the stuff of cranks until New Labour brought in devolution.

Thank you very much, Mr Blair.  By once again fixing what wasn't broken you've turned a settled issue into a crisis.

Obama's guns spiked

Bad day, Barry?
Spiked, b'Gad!
The United States Socialist Revolution is over.  The Republicans have retaken control of the House of Representatives and as of this writing have made enough gains in the Senate to prevent the Democrats from passing anything without their approval.  With Congress effectively removed from Mr Barack Hussein Obama's control, his intense yet vague dreams of converting the USA into a European-style Socialist state are ended.

The question now is, what to do?

The answer is broadly simple:  The Republicans must remember, as one pundit put it, that this election was not an endorsement of the GOP, but a restraining order on Mr Obama.  Their purpose is not to go on with business as usual, but rather to reverse the damage the President and his party have wrought, and to rebuild the economy.

In addition, the new Congress must treat Mr Obama's peace offers as the Saurmanesque rot that they are.  Instead, counter-offer him the same post-partisanship that he showed his "enemies"; i.e. surrender or be ignored.  If he complains, respond in the same gracious manner as he did by telling him "We won."  If he wants to play chicken over budget cuts and defunding Obamacare, let him and tell him that the man who maligned the Republicans as the "Party of No" is treating the American people to President No.  From my reading of Mr Obama's character, I know who will blink first.

As to Mr Obama himself, what has he in store?  If he were as intelligent as he is reputed to be, which he is not, had the charisma and political savvy of former President William Jefferson Clinton, or the experience of a mediocre Congressman, he would make peace with the Republicans, triangulate like mad, and spend the next two years trying to identify with the American people and making them forget that The One even existed.  From what I have seen of Mr Obama over the past three years, I don't think that is possible unless he really is nothing but a puppet of shadowy kingmakers.  Barry is so unimaginative, so timid, so rigid, narcissistic, and utterly convinced of his own greatness that to do so would shatter his self image.  My suspicion is that he will be so unbending and ungracious that even his own party will turn against him in the interests of survival and the once messiah will be forced to either spend the remainder of his term playing solitaire while dodging congressional subpoenas, or resigning in a fit of pique.

If he doesn't go back to Chicago, then keep him boxed in a corner until 2012.  With any luck, he'll face off against the equally inept and now spent Mrs Hillary Clinton in a primary challenge that will make that year a satisfying echo of 1980.

The Free World has just dodged the bullet.  Pardon me while I sink a G&T in celebration.

Chin-chin, everyone.

Another take on the status of the Obama agenda.

Update:  Barry soothes his troubled brow with a $200 million a day junket to India.
Correction:  Price tag debunked.

Update: Condescender-in-Chief.  Barack Hussein Obama has no intention of giving an inch.  The election was because Barry wasn't going fast enough for the benighted American voters who don't appreciate what he's done for them, compromise means Republicans caving in to him, and Obamacare is sacrosanct.

In brief, Mr Obama's message to the American people and the Republicans: Well, I hope you've learned your lesson and don't make me chastise you again.

The Fall of America?

Mark Steyn looks at the upcoming elections and argues that a lot more is at stack than Nancy Pelosi's job.
This is really the last chance for the unloved Republicans. If the party establishment is sufficiently dimwitted to see November 2nd as the restoration of the 2004-2006 GOP, they will be setting up the conditions (as Rush has already argued) for a serious third-force challenge in 2012. That would be less convulsive than a remoter though still possible scenario: If the Democrats manage to hold onto power by openly funding spoiler candidates, they would be discrediting the entire electoral process, and setting up pre-revolutionary conditions. In other words, it would be very easy for both parties to confirm the suspicion of a very disenchanted electorate – that the system no longer allows for serious course correction.

And, without serious course correction, America is doomed. It starts with the money. For dominant powers, it always does – from the Roman Empire to the British Empire. “Declinism” is in the air these days, but for us full-time apocalyptics we’re already well past that stage. In the space of one generation, a nation of savers became the world’s largest debtors, and a nation of makers and doers became a cheap service economy. Everything that can be outsourced has been – manufacturing to by no means friendly nations overseas; and much of what’s left in agriculture and construction to the armies of the “undocumented”. At the lower end, Americans are educated at a higher cost per capita than any nation except Luxembourg in order to do minimal-skill checkout-line jobs about to be rendered obsolete by technology. At the upper end, America’s elite goes to school till early middle age in order to be credentialed for pseudo-employment as $350 grand-a-year diversity consultants (Michelle Obama) or in one of the many other phony-baloney makework schemes deriving from government micro-regulation of virtually every aspect of endeavor.

Oddly, it's the gaming the third parties that frightens me the most.  Any of the other things can be remedied with enough effort, but if the American people think that the system is rigged, then 1776 will look like a, well, tea party and the only safe investments will be in gold, tinned food, and guns.  And I don't just mean for Americans.  If the United States falls, civilsation falls with her.

Crossing the line

A quote from Mr Barack Hussein Obama's address to Latino voters  (emphasis added):
And if Latinos sit out the election instead of saying, we're gonna punish our enemies and we're gonna reward our friends who stand with us on issues that are important to us, if they don't see that kind of upsurge in voting in this election, then I think it's gonna be harder — and that's why I think it's so important that people focus on voting on November 2.
The president of the United States just referred to his fellow citizens who fail to support him as "enemies" and threatens to "punish" them?  Oh, dear.

I have a sick feeling that when Mr Obama loses control of Congress and his adoring press start to see him as a liability, a time will come not long after when Barry snaps during a live broadcast and starts uses those two words again in a very angry voice while glaring straight into the camera.  Hope and change, guys.

Update:  More soothing words from Mr Soetoro (emphasis added):
We don’t mind the Republicans joining us. They can come for the ride, but they gotta sit in back.
"Sit in the back"?  I knew that Barry's grasp of history was poor, but for a black American to say something like this is enough to make the shade of Dr King do a spit take.

The Chinese Professor

A political advert from the United States that neatly boils down how to destroy a great nation in one easy lesson. The only flaw was in the conclusion. In the sort of international lender/debtor situation the United States and China are in, it's the lender who is the more nervous of the two. Far from "owning" the United States and making the Americans work for them, the Chinese would find themselves holding a load of worthless treasury bonds that the Americans have no intention of honouring. It's similar to what happened with Edward II I and the Jewish lenders that he'd borrowed a fortune from. Instead of "owning" England, the Jews found themselves banished and penniless.

China is such a candy-shell economy run by autocrats that I doubt if in twenty years we'll be seeing too many smug, smartly turned out Celestials patting themselves on the back as the new Masters of the World. More likely, they'll be wondering how to deal with living at the epicentre of an economic implosion that will make Japan's Lost Decade look like a Lost Weekend.

The assessment

Victor Davis Hanson provides a thorough look at Mr Barack Hussein Obama 2008 versus 2010.

None of this surprised me in the least.  From the moment Mr Obama boomed, I suspected it was because he wass an empty vessel.  I just never thought he'd turn out to be entirely empty.

Update:  Run away!  Run away!

An observation

Is it just me or is Mr Barack Hussein Obama, with only a fortnight to go before the elections, still having a bit of a problem connecting with the people?

Update:  The Marlboro man of politics.

Random thoughts on a rotten burough

Mr David Cameron announces the Conservative/Liberal Democrat coalition.

We now have the Cameron/Clegg coalition and for the past 24 hours I've been wracking my brains trying to come up with something to say about it other than "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!" and hoping that I'll wake up. Unfortunately, I did this morning and they were still there.

What has happened over the past week is a perfect encapsulment of all that has gone rotten in British politics. For 13 years, Britain was governed by a party that acted like an occupying power hellbent on dismantling a hated enemy. It was a disaster so all-encompassing that a re-subtitled Downfall clip would have been far too appropriate to be funny. New Labour was such an amazing, transcendent screw up that the Conservatives should have conducted the election in their street clothes and come away with a majority so large that both Labour and the Liberal Democrats should have been replaced as the loyal opposition by the UKIP. Instead, Boy Cameron, who feels that the problem with Conservatives was all that conservatism, managed to run against a hated PM leading an imploding party and couldn't even reach the finish line.

Now, to add insult to injury, the Conservatives have formed a coalition with a party so insane that they haven't held power since the First World War. This isn't a coalition government; it's a stitch up between a hollow log and a joy buzzer. In order to make nice with each other they've had to jettison so much of their manifestos that neither can do anything except infuriate their own supporters and leave the entire country in a position like an alien abduction victim waiting for the anal probe.

A sane outcome of the election would have been a Prime Minister of some standing announcing a five-year programme of dismantling everything New Labour has ever done while giving Johnny Jihad a kick up the backside he'd never forget with an afternoon off to repeal the European Communities Act of 1972. Instead, we have two members of the parasitic new political class that replaced the Establishment who regard actually doing something about defence, immigration, the economy, and the general collapse of British society as too much of a distraction from playing with their train set and altering the electoral system so that another proper government will never be possible ever again.

Mr Cameron says that he will ask Parliament to rig the system so that there won't be another election until May 2015. Fat Chance–especially with the BBC acting as if the Liberal Democrats have broken their lefty little hearts.

Frankly, I give this Frankenstein's Monster of a coalition six months before it gets tossed back to the nation to go through the whole sorry mess again.

RESULT!

Her Majesty has invited Mr David Cameron to become Prime Minister.

More on this development later. As for Mr Gordon Brown's resignation (However are they going to get the claw marks out of the door jamb?) and New Labour's finally getting the boot, let's put it this way.

Hung Parliament

I awoke this morning to discover that Britain has a hung parliament. I spent the time until lunch with a spring in my step and a song on my lips until the girl at the coffee stand pointed out that this did not involve an extremely large gallows. Gloom ensued.

Ah, well.

Update: Unfortunately, the means that Mr Gordon Brown stays on at Number 10. The reason given is, according to Professor Robert Hazell, from the Institute for Government,
We must always have a government, and until a new government can be formed the present government carries on.
Very true. If Britain ever found itself without a government, there is every chance that people would start to notice the improvements.

Election day

It's election day in Britain and when Her Majesty dissolved Parliament I was sorely tempted to break a standing rule of EI and endorse one of the parties. My normal operating procedure when the country goes to the polls is to remind my readers of how much is at stake in the election and ask that they vote according to their consciences. However, New Labour has made such a pig's breakfast of Britain since 1997 that I felt compelled to stick my oar in. Something, I thought, had to be done.

Unfortunately, that's where I got stuck. I certainly couldn't endorse New Labour. Beyond their concerted attack on all of Britain's institutions, customs, history, religion, and even identity, Mr Gordon Brown et al by their own confession (boasting!) are traitors who made war against Britain by fomenting and aiding an invasion of the country. If you put a gun to my head and demanded my endorsement I'd tell you I wanted to see the bullets first and unless they were dum dums filled with cyanide I wouldn't even consider it. Even if they were, I'd make it a coin toss.

As for the Conservatives, I am amazed that they aren't being prosecuted under the Trades Descriptions Act for false labelling. This is no longer the party led by Sir Winston Churchill. This is not the party that stood against the Communists while the opposition preached decline, defeat, and surrender. This is not the party that tipped Marxism into its grave so that it now only survives in pest holes like North Korea and the faculty common room. This is the corpse of a party that's had its brains scooped out and replaced by a clockwork toy that periodically announces that the way to govern Britain is to do exactly what New Labour does only more efficiently. It's enough to make Lady Thatcher spin in her grave and since she isn't dead, it's a wonder that seeing Mr David Cameron as leader doesn't kill her.

The Liberal Democrats? Sorry, don't think so. I prefer a party, not a bag stuffed with every disaffected left-wing idea rejected by the two real parties. I can think of any number of idiotic things that can happen in an election, but replacing a government with a bran tub filled with whoopee cushions and fake turds is too much even for me to imagine.

UKIP? I've read their manifesto, agree with most of their goals, and wish them all the success possible. However, I cannot for the moment see how they hope to bridge the gap between aspiration and government until the electorate is given a massive dose of common sense. I find it highly unlikely that the voters will give the finger to all three major parties simultaneously no matter how nice a picture that may be.

The BNP I only mention because Fleet Street has a macro that inserts them every time you type in UKIP so that the latter always reminds the reader of the former. Beyond that, the notion of Roderick Spode standing in front of Number 10 in his black shorts gives me a fit of the giggles. Separatist parties I reject on the principle that you're elected to run the country, not dismantle it. As for the remainder like the Worker's Revolutionary Party, they should be shown a calendar and the door.

So, since Britain is actually ruled (I do not mean governed!) by a load of unelected dictators in Brussels who are answerable to no one, the Forward to Mars Party has long ago disbanded, and I can't seem to get my Feudalist Party off the ground for lack of royal approval regarding my plan use the next Queen's Speech to dispatch the entire House of Commons to the Tower and then sending a short note to the EU President that include "get" and "stuffed", I must tip my hat to the Official Raving Monster Looney Party.

Can't be any worse.

Where's the brandy?

Running on clueless

Times headline:
Gordon Brown pledges 'five more years' as Prime Minister if Labour wins
Amazingly, he thinks this will help.
