    Wonder if the future carriers will be named HMS Implaceable, HMS Indefeated, HMS Victoria, HMS Formatted and HMS Domino Table.

    No doubt the initial wave of tourists will be from the shipyard that is building the PLAN's first flattop right now. That way, they can compare it to the one they bought from Russia a few years ago (The Tbilisi, IIRC) and determine exactly what not to do.

    Ironmistress: nice. But HMS Victoria is quite plausible. I would suggest HMS Victrola instead.

    "HMS Invisible" was a nickname for Invincible during the Falklands war. However, nobody was under any illusions that "Reserve" meant waiting for the Knackers Yard as every reuseable part was stripped to keep Ark Royal and Illustrious going. In the same way that the reserve type 42's were stripped bare to keep the survivors going.

    Hmm,... HMS Victorious -> HMS Victorinox..?

    In Finland we call the final fate of old warships as "nail factory".

    Somewhat sad end to the old flattop. Unfortunately, UK does not have a single carrier as a museum ship. HMS Invincible, as Falklands veteran (second with that name, to be exact) would have made a fine floating museum.

    Another fine fate would have been opening her kingstons and scuttling her as an artificial reef, like USS Oriskany. She would have that way made a fine scuba diving target.

    Oh, btw: My rubber dinghy carries proudly the name HMS Inflatable. Haven't [yet] painted a small White Ensign on her, though.
