    Actually, we had manned rockets capable of achieving 19,000 MPH (5.27 m/sec) less than a decade after this was written.

    Then, our enlightened leaders lost interest in going to the Moon, and never got around to going to Mars. I guess there weren't enough voters either place for their purposes.

    As for the picture, nice outfit on her, but he looks like he's wearing thermal underpants and forgot his slacks.
