Air police patrol
We looked at this in Tales of Future Past. And now that Modern Mechanix gives us the whole story, it looks even more ludicrous.

At first, I thought I was looking some form of really agressive traffic control. If Hugo Gernsback backs it, you know it's on the way.
ReplyDeleteOr as we now call it Helicops. As with much thinking at the time the hardware wasn't up to the concept. Our local (South Wales) unit even tweets it's call-outs, very nice to know what's happening when it passes by.
ReplyDeleteThey could have just employed a two-seater biplane to strafe gangsters, the rear gunner also engaging in some action. Simple and completely feasible for the time.
