Notebooks

The Quill and the Keyboard looks at the importance of notebooks for writers.

  1. Once upon a time, an old Zen master was walking in a mountain forest. Contemplating the Way as he climbed the mountain, he had a profound thought, but alas! his writing paper had dropped out of his knapsack several miles back! Thinking quickly, the master chose a flat piece of wood and wrote his thought on that. It was a pine koan.
