Motoring '70s Style

James May discusses the perfect gift for the ladies: a 1971 Triumph 2000 Mk II.

I quite like the money quote:
I decided it was time to buy her indoors her own car, so she could get out more. By buying her a Seventies Triumph I would ensure she never got too far.
Forward planning. You can't beat it.

  1. I liked this line: "...his beloved car would not be turned into a submarine or a lunar module or be driven into every five minutes by Richard Hammond."

May hasn't much room to speak though after smacking that awful Austin Marina that Clarkson was driving (if you want to call piloting an Austin Marina driving) with his equally awful, if not moreso, Lada sedan.

I hadn't seen a Triumph sedan since I was a kid, I really enjoyed reading that some still survive.
