Governing a Mile-Square Country

Gordonland

An unnamed advisor to Mr. Gordon Brown had this to say about Britain:
Only high-quality professional services, financial services and the City of London have any real value and they should be supported at all costs. The rest of the country can be turned over to tourism.
Charming. I've seen absentee slumlords renting out fire traps who've had more regard for their tenants. The frightening thing is that the way New Labour has treated everywhere outside of Westminster, talking to this advisor may have involved Mr Brown and a mirror.
