Patrick McGoohan: 1928-2009

Partick McGoohan, AKA John Drake or No. 6 or "Mr. Jones", if you're an Ice Station Zebra fan (and who isn't?), has passed on.

Be seeing you.

  1. "If you disobey the rules of society, they send you to prison; if you disobey the rules of the prison, they send you to us."

When McGoohan said it, you believed it. That line was as memorable as Strother Martin's famous quote from Cool Hand Luke.

    Sad to see him go.

  2. ...What's Ice Station Zebra? Still, it's a pity for a classic actor like this to pass away.

  3. Wunderbear....

    1) Reclusive billionaire Howard Hughes, who had experience both as a movie producer and a defense contractor for the U.S., is said to have watched Ice Station Zebra dozens of times on a continuous loop in his private hotel suite during the years prior to his death. VCRs and Laserdiscs weren't yet available: The film was shown in the form of a spooled print running through a film projector onto a traditional screen.

    2) Saturday Night Live January 22, 1977
Garrett Morris as a motion picture projector repairman.
    Loraine Newman as Howard Hughes.
With Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray.
