For £28.56you can get a kit from Middlesex University Teaching Resources that allows you to recreate a 1924 Baird mechanical television.This would be pretty neat except a) it uses modern electronics, which takes a lot of the fun out of it and b) once TV broadcasts go digital you'll have a thirty quid paperweight.
