    I read about half of the 143 comments and the consensus is "Urban Legend".

    The devices should have had auto-shutdown features and emailed or paged appropriate personell at the early stages of overheating.

    Also it seems unlikely anyone would send an email to everyone admitting to unauthorised use of keycards.
