Backing into Space

Apparently Richard Branson has been nosing around an RAF base in Scotland to explore the possibility of converting it into a spaceport for his Virgin Galactic flights.

It's ironic that Britain, which for years has rejected any sort of manned space programme, might find itself a spacefaring power anyway, thanks to private enterprise. See what happens when you start letting capitalists loose?
