Assimilation Is Not Absorption
Charles Moore marks the 350th anniversary of the return of the Jews to Great Britain and comments on the success of Jewish assimilation thanks to their recognition of secular law:
Without this understanding, people do indeed "swallow one another alive" and - one might add in the era of suicide bombings - swallow themselves in the process.
