Lost at sea

The government is mothballing placing HMS Albion on "standby" until 2016 as a cost-cutting measure.

Why not?  It's not like wars pop up unexpectedly, is it?

Oh, wait...

  1. I believe it was S.L.A. "Slam" Marshall who once said that generally, aggressors don't send out RSVPs first.

One of the few times it didn't work was in the 1967 Six Day War, because the UAR forgot to conceal their preparations, and (even worse) forgot Hogg's Law; Just because you're getting ready to attack in no way prohibits your opponent from having a go at you first.

Myself, I'm all in favor of catching the adverse party ready to attack. Preferably while their frontline units, fighter Mafia, bomber pukes, and tanker toads are just having breakfast. About BDNT, on average.

Bombed-up and fueled-up flightlines burn so nicely. So do tank laagers.

    cheers
