Swiss spaghetti harvest

3 comments:

  1. Sad to think that this is a way of life that has virtually died out, and now virtually all the world's spaghetti comes from giant, soulless factory farms. :-(

I think it's worth starting a campaign to have the 1st of April designated International REAL Spaghetti Day!

  2. You can get locally grown spaghetti at the local BYO-Vinyl Bag Store. The unhusked variety in particular has a pleasant nutty flavor, and it's full of vitamins.

On the other hand, I once had a neighbor who tried to raise his own vermicelli, and that was a terrible mess. With all the difficulty keeping them from escaping their brood boxes, and the smell and the howling at night. Green as I am, even I'm in favor of leaving vermicelli farming to the experts.

  3. I got a package of overripe spaghetti once. Man, that was nasty. I was picking seeds out of my teeth for a week. Don't buy after the freshness date!
