It'll be on a Thursday

Slashdot asks for alternative ways to detect intelligent life in outer space.

This one strikes me as the most probable.

    Actually, any intelligent species "out there" has probably already put us on their "do not answer" list.

    After all, by the time we transmitted H2G2 in both radio and TV form, we'd already spent decades pummeling their brains with "I Love Lucy", "Peyton Place", "Dallas", etc.

    After which they would logically conclude that our entire species is slightly more brain-dead than the Vogons.
