Flying carpet car

Paleo Future looks at hovercars, which Tales of Future Past has touched on as well.

Think of this next time you hit a pot hole.

  1. AMT actually did a 1/25 plastic kit of one of these in the late Sixties, called the AMTronic. The interesting thing about it is that it is actually a minivan with a detachable two-seat "cockpit" that's basically a Smart Car.

Of course, it's also highly un-P.C. because it's powered by helicopter-type turboshafts instead of "pristine" electric motors. I guess they concluded that the weight of the batteries would sort of make the whole hovercraft thing a non-starter.

    cheers

  2. AMT re-issued the AMTronic in 2000.
