Colon studies

Serious scholars.
James Lileks looks at the recent "student" riots in London and coins a phrase that I intend to use often:
I suspect they're mostly engaged in Colon Studies, meaning, every one of their college textbooks has a colon in the title. "Shearing the Flock: Mercantilism and Class Inequality in 19th Century New Zealand" or "Singing For Her Supper: Transgendered Nightclub Singers in Weimar Berlin.
I know the type.

Update: The rioters are thugs and criminals.  Their teachers are worse.

  1. I noted that all those "(Bleep) Fees" signs Lileks refers to were professionally printed, and had the legend "Socialist Workers" at the top in smaller, black print. Which tells me that this protest was about as "spontaneous" as an SEIU rally for The One over here.

    After the teachers' head-pat for the riot, I'm wondering how "spontaneous" it was, as well.

  2. That is amazingly poor form for a kick. I assume the big bad commie is trying to kick something, not having an attack of the jibblies from seeing a particularly fierce mouse.

  3. Sergej;

    Congratulations. Thanks to you, I just barely missed having to clean the coffee out of my keyboard. Well put.

    cheers
